The trailer of Emraan Hashmi starrer Tigers is out and it is quite intriguing. In the film, Hashmi plays a middle-class salesman employed by a company which makes formula milk for infants. The formula, as it turns out, is slowly poisoning the kids and as soon as Hashmi’s character figures it out, he wants to break the chain and bring justice.

The film also stars Adil Hussain, Geetanjali Thapa, Satyadeep Mishra, Danny Huston and Supriya Pathak among others.

Tigers is helmed by Oscar winning director Danis Tanovic. He won the Academy Award for the 2001 movie No Man’s Land. No Man’s Land was nominated in the same category as Lagaan in 2001. Tigers was internationally premiered in 2014 at Toronto International Film Festival.

The Hollywood Reporter reviewed the film and wrote, “The salesman who blew the whistle on the baby food scandal in Pakistan becomes an inspiring story of personal courage portrayed by popular young Bollywood star Emraan Hashmi.” Indiewire noted, “Tanovic is a highly skilled director, and his crafting of this story in tandem with an excellent ‘everyman’ performance from Bollywood star Hashmi is surefooted and compelling. The clean lines of narrative fiction, almost simplistically put forward here, actually help our understanding of the great wrong the company is engaged in.”

The review also suggests that the film is based on the Nestle baby food scandal that affected USA in the 1970s, Europe in the 1980s and a large part of South East Asia during the 1990s and early 2000s.

Emraan Hashmi is also working on the feature film Cheat India. He will soon be seen in the Netflix original series Bard of Blood.

The world digital premiere of Tigers will happen on Zee5 on November 21.
