Here’s something to drive away your mid-week blues. All those who were eagerly waiting for the trailer of Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’, can now heave a sigh of relief. The team has just released the trailer and it is worth the wait. Aamir shines in his restrained act of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, who hopes that his yet-to-be-born son will win a gold medal for the country someday. When Mahavir is blessed with daughters – Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari – he sees his dream shattering. However, not one to give up hope, he takes it upon himself to train his daughters and make them award-winning wrestlers. “Hamari chhoriyaan chhoron se kam hain ke?” questions Aamir as he shows that women are at par with men.

Many may feel that ‘Dangal’ has a hangover of this year’s biggest hit, ‘Sultan’, which also dealt with the subject of a wrestler seeking redemption. However, Aamir’s film is more about the inspirational journey of a father as he trains his daughters to scale heights of success. Debutantes Fatima Sana Sheikh and Sanya Malhotra, who play Geeta and Babita – the two wrestlers who went on to win gold and silver medals respectively at the 2010 CommonWealth Games, too seem promising.
The biopic, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is set to hit screens on December 23.
