Rock On 2 comes eight years after the original one released, which was directed by Abhishek Kapoor.
It’s been eight years since Farhan Akhtar’s Magik performed and lost one of their members, keyboardist Luke Kenny. They’re back, and this time they’re performing in Shillong, Meghalaya. The teaser shows a brooding Farhan Akhtar with a thick beard, rowing a boat on a river. Looks like lead guitarist Arjun Rampal has ditched his long locks for an edgier look in this one.
The sequel sees a new director Shujaat Saudagar coming on board replacing Abhishek Kapoor. Shujaat has previously made a telefilm called Bali starring Mandira Bedi, Ram Kapoor and Ravi Gossain. The cast also sees two new faces joining Magik – Shraddha Kapoor and Shashank Arora.
Shraddha Kapoor widely touted as someone who can actually sing among the current crop of actors-turned-singers, is hoping to pull off the role of a vocalist. Shashank Arora who made a solid debut in Kanu Behl’s Titli last year and also appeared earlier this year Netflix India’s first movie Brahman Naman directed by Q, will be playing a bass guitarist.
All in all the teaser looks exciting, as we see glimpses of Farhan running through a burning village. That tells us the movie will be much more than a rock band festival. The rocking trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy are back to doing the music of this one too. All eyes on November 11, 2016.
